First experience in a Pößneck company

IHK student college holds a project day at Klumpp Präzisionswerk Pößneck

Last Saturday, five refugees from West Africa took the opportunity to try out the role of machine and plant operator at the student college run by the East Thuringia Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Gera. They were supported in this first step towards career orientation by experienced staff from Klumpp Präzisionswerk in Pößneck-Ost.

“The young men were also enthusiastic about making a metal paperweight, which they were then allowed to take home with them,” the IHK has now announced. They also learned basic metalworking techniques.

Klumpp Präzisionswerk is described as a “leading manufacturer of turned parts” supplying the automotive industry. Pupils interested in an apprenticeship as a machine and plant operator can contact the company directly.

The IHK student college offers project days, longer-term working groups and seminars for pupils from Year 8 upwards. “Pupils are given the opportunity to get to know occupations, industries and working tasks in a practical setting under expert guidance,” the Chamber of Industry and Commerce states. “This helps them find out which occupation suits them best.”

The sessions take place on Saturdays and during the school holidays at companies in East Thuringia.
