COMPANY HISTORY OF KLUMPP GMBH
Expertise grown over more than five decades, technological development and entrepreneurial foresight shape the history of Klumpp GmbH – from a parts manufacturer for the watchmaking industry to a modern precision engineering business with two sites and more than 20,000 m² of production space. Our history is one of progress and innovation.

The Klumpp company was founded in Bretten in 1969. The initial focus was on manufacturing turned parts for the watchmaking and consumer electronics industries. This laid the foundation for the later development into a high-performing industrial company.

By constructing its first own company building with around 600 m² of production space, Klumpp created the basis for further growth and an increasing depth of manufacturing.

During the 1980s Klumpp continuously expanded its production areas and opened up new markets. Alongside video technology, the automotive industry in particular became increasingly important.

With the construction of a modern production site covering more than 6,500 m², the company sent a strong signal for the future, for quality and for growth.

Successful certification to ISO/TS 16949 underlined the company’s high quality standards and strengthened Klumpp’s position as a dependable partner to the automotive industry.

By establishing a second production site in Pößneck (Thuringia), Klumpp expanded its capacities and secured further sustainable growth.

Additional production halls with 14,000 m² of modern infrastructure were built at the main site in Bretten.

An in-house training centre was brought into operation together with the new production halls. Targeted development of young talent became a firm part of the company philosophy.

Construction began on a new building with more than 4,000 m² of production space, which was inaugurated in 2012.

Investments in energy efficiency, including a combined heat and power plant, together with the expansion of environmental and energy management systems, shaped the company’s further development.

Construction began on the expansion of production and administration, and was completed in November 2016. The total area in Bretten now amounts to 20,000 m²

At the Bacău site, very small series are manufactured on modern automatic lathes across an area of 1,600 m². Quality inspection was also successfully established and integrated there.

Today Klumpp GmbH & Co. KG employs around 430 people at three sites and is one of the leading manufacturers of precision turned parts and system components for the automotive industry and other demanding sectors.
